Hey, I'm McKenzie!

what to expect from me

a.k.a. the overview

I’m so glad you’re here!

I aim to help Christian women live out the Bible – one practical step at a time.

I was tired of walking away from sermons, women’s Bible studies, conferences, etc. thinking, “That sounds amazing, but how do I actually DO that?”

I started challenging myself to answer that question. And over time, I realized I wasn’t the only one asking it.

So if you’ve ever felt stuck between knowing God’s Word and living it – welcome, sister. You’re in the right place.

I created this space for Christian women who want to go deeper—not just in Bible knowledge, but in Bible living.

Around here, we talk about living it out in your personal walk with God, in motherhood, in marriage, and in homemaking.

Here you’ll find biblical encouragement, simple – yet actionable steps, and truth-filled guidance to help you grow in your faith and live it out, one practical step at a time.

And when you’re ready to step into your Titus 2 calling to mentor, and start giving out all of your wisdom, I’ll help you do that too through Risen Mentor.

I don’t have it all figured out. But I am digging into Scripture, asking the hard questions, and seeking to live it out in the middle of the messy, just like you.

Together, we’ll seek it out, live it out, and give it out.

Why I can help - first hand experience

my personal experience

Married 16 years. Mother of 2 - a 15 year old girl, and an 11 year old boy. In my fourth year of homeschooling. Full time keeper of our home for over 16 years. When I share about motherhood, marriage, and homemaking, I've got many years under my belt for each one.

My ministry experience (in a nutshell)

Women's life group leader, trained up women to lead, been the leader of women's group leaders, been sought after and asked to lead in outside organizations like Bible Study Fellowship and Women's Skills, and more. I've been serving Christian women for over a decade and helping them grow in many different facets.

my mentoring experience

I've been a woman desiring mentorship, been disappointed by mentorship, received mentorship, and have mentored others. And I take all of that knowledge and aim to help Christian women mentor well through the resources I provide at Risen Mentor.

A bit of my story

I was born and raised in Southern California, but now live in a small town in Arkansas and mostly love it. 😉 I was raised Mormon for the first 13/14 years of my life before walking away from it. After that, I believed in God, but did not live for God until He saved me at 19.

My childhood was rough and I moved out of my parents house two weeks after I turned 15. I left school, worked a full time job, paid bills, and eventually finished High School 6 months early through independent study. My life has been filled with elements of abandonment, feeling unloved and unwanted, loved ones addicted to drugs, alcohol, and pills, multiple forms of abuse, big time betrayals, devastation, grief, obstacles that I never should have had to overcome, and so much more.

Yet, my story is not special or unique – many people experience similar things. But it is mine, and while there are so many parts I’d never want to re-live, or wish on anybody, I have seen God work through so many pieces of it. He has brought healing, restoration, redemption, and more to my life, and I am so grateful. He truly is such a good God and following Him has been the best adventure of my life.

I’m honored and humbled to walk this journey alongside you friend.

real talk

If you stick around, you’ll quickly realize that I’m not one of those Christians that’s going to tell you what you want to hear. I have a habit of saying things the most direct way possible, while maintaining compassion and empathy. But at the end of the day, biblical truth is not based on feelings, it is our standard and firm foundation.

some fun facts

I don’t like popcorn or ketchup.

I love overly obnoxious things. So the smaller something is – the cuter, and the bigger something is – the funner. Both versions are obnoxiously great!

I can lick my nose. Can you? I ask because I’m guessing you tried it after you read it.

My favorite things...

My husband + kids

iced coffee

bears

football
